Pleasant Poppies with In Color Ribbon

I cannot say enough WONDERFUL things about our NEW 3/8″ Satin Stiched Ribbon — It’s luscious!!!! So soft, with subtle line detail. LOVE it!!!!! I layered the NEW Moonlight Designer Series Paper for the butterflies to accent this clean and simple card. The Satin Stitched ribbon pulls it all together (literally, lol!)

Sunday Sketch

Here’s a new layout for today’s Sunday Sketch!

I knew I wanted to use Washi Tape (love that stuff!) so here’s what I came up with. P.S….You can never go wrong with butterfly punches 🙂

So then I switched to the NEW Retro Fresh Washi tape and went with a whole different color scheme. I am LOVING this color combo of Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, and Tangerine Tango. Layered star punches, dimensionals, a tangerine tango candy dot, and I was all set!

Probably my favorite thing about this sketch was how quickly the cards came together! Thank you Washi Tape!

I’m trying something new, and calling it Sunday Sketches! Each Sunday I’ll post a different card sketch/layout to help motivate and inspire you to get crafty! I found this one on pinterest, but if you click on the image, it will take you to the “Seize the Sketch” blog where you will find a ton of samples and ideas from some very talented crafters.

At our team meeting yesterday, one of our activities was to create a card using this card sketch. I provided the NEW Sale-a-Bration paper, and coordinating card stock (cantaloupe crisp, pool party, pistachio pudding, whisper white) and gave them access to all my stamps, punches, and embellishments. They were up for the challenge and jumped right in! Here’s what they came up with…

My New Catalog Open House is tonight!!! WooHooo, I always look forward to a night out stampin’ with the girls! Here’s a sampling of one of the two cards we’ll be creating at tonight’s FREE event! Drop by anytime from 6-8pm at McAlister’s Deli in Jefferson City.

This clean and simple card is perfect for showcasing the 5 new In Colors: Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe,  Strawberry Slush, and Coastal Cabana. They are right on trend for the season, and are even more rich in person!

The Bitty Butterfly punches have been embossed to add a little texture, and are secured with mini glue dots.

And what about using your Simply Scored Tool to help add some direction. Those of you who like a little (or a lot) of bling could jazz up the butterflies with some rhinestone/pearl Jewels or embellishments, but I stayed simple on this card 🙂

Hello and Goodbye

This is a perfect example of a stamp set I LOVE, but one that I often overlook. It was one of the first sets I ordered last year when the catalog made it’s debut, and  “My Friend” is one that will also carry over to the new catalog (yippee!) Maybe I’ll challenge myself to use it more than once in the coming year-lol.

Unfortunately, it’s almost time to say goodbye to a classic color that has been a staple in stamp rooms across the country: “Certainly Celery”. But don’t feel completely abandoned, as it’s cousin, Pear Pizzazz (former In Color), will be returning in it’s place. And yes, I believe it will still coordinate nicely with Perfect Plum and Rose Red 🙂

Another element on this card that’s scheduled to depart is the Manhattan Flower Embossing folder (seen on the larger butterfly).

This is one of the three cards we are stamping tonight at my monthly Card Class. Cost is just $5 or FREE with a $15 merchandise order. Which means, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab any of the items listed on the Retiring Lists before they are gone gone gone.

Clear Embossed Swallowtail

Looking for another way to feature the swallowtail? How about using Clear Embossing Powder! It’s a subtle way to make any image shine, and really adds a “WOW” factor to this Clean and Simple layout.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Stamp your words first–you want them on the card stock before you emboss. Choose an ink color dark enough to show through 🙂
  • Ink up the swallowtail really well with versamark ink pad and stamp on your cardstock
  • apply clear embossing powder over the image. Turn the card stock over and tap off any excess powder.
  • Make sure you check for finger prints or any smudges–The heat tool will emboss all the powder it touches
  • The card stock will be a little warped from the heat tool, so don’t be afraid to add a little extra snail adhesive to the back.
  • I added a couple dimensionals (surprise surprise!) behind the Not Quite Navy card stock to give it a little extra
