Retro Fresh Treat Box

I’m all about the Retro Fresh designer series paper, can you tell 🙂 Check out these super cute and super quick treats we made at this month’s Stamp Club!

All you need is a half-sheet (5-1/2 x 8-1/2) of cardstock and 2 mini glue dots! Here’s the template I made, or you can watch the video tutorial from SU Demo Dawn Olchefske.

Wrap the washi tape around toothpicks to make the little flags! Here are a few closeups…

Sunday Sketch

Here’s a new layout for today’s Sunday Sketch!

I knew I wanted to use Washi Tape (love that stuff!) so here’s what I came up with. P.S….You can never go wrong with butterfly punches 🙂

So then I switched to the NEW Retro Fresh Washi tape and went with a whole different color scheme. I am LOVING this color combo of Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, and Tangerine Tango. Layered star punches, dimensionals, a tangerine tango candy dot, and I was all set!

Probably my favorite thing about this sketch was how quickly the cards came together! Thank you Washi Tape!

Stamps: Occasions Stamp Set (from the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit), Express Yourself (hostess set)
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Rose Red
Paper: Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Rose Red, Daffodil Delight
Etc: Retro Fresh Washi Tape, Gingham Garden Washi Tape, Star Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch
Etc: Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Candy Dots, Pearl Jewels, Big Shot Embossing folder (to add texture to the bitty butterflies)

Speaking of trends…

Here are some of the sweet cards we made last night at this month’s Card Class. And yes, it features the trendy and oh-so-easy to use, Washi Tape (Gingham Garden Style)
I saw a similar card on Pinterest (surprise surprise!) and changed it up a little.

I used Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, and Island Indigo cardstock to pull out the colors in the washi tape.

Cardstock Measurements:

whisper white 5″ x 3-3/4″,

Island Indigo 5-1/4″ x 4″

Card Base 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (score at 4-1/4″ and folded in half)

Tip: To get a nice clean edge, wrap the washi tape around the cardstock. No scissors needed, just rip and stick

The flower came from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, and of course, you can’t forget about the coordinating Blossom Punch For the center, I used both the 3/4″ circle and the 7/8″ scallop circle punches. The Greetings were from the Express Yourself Hostess Stamp Set (one of my favorites! and only available with a $150 order or workshop)

One of the hottest trends in papercrafting

hands down….. Washi Tape! It’s so simple, it’s genious!

So what is Washi Tape exactly, and why is it so popular???

The best way to describe washi tape is that it feels like masking tape — very, very pretty masking tape. It’s made of paper, but is not as delicate as you would expect. You can cut it, rip it, write on it, and reposition during your design process. Plus, you can find it in a variety of patterns and designs allowing you to create some fun projects!

Stampin’Up currently offers two Washi Tape bundles: Gingham Garden (#129314) & Epic Day (#131269).

And yes, there will be NEW Washi Tape bundles offered in the upcoming Holiday Catalog (coming this August!!!)

So, what exactly do you do with Washi Tape??? Here are just a few samples….

Pretty neat, huh! Amazing how a simple idea can add so much to a card, page, or project!

Epic Trio
