Wildflower Watercolors

I shared this card with you about a week ago, and wanted to share a quick tutorial with a few tips and tricks! It was inspired by this card from SU demonstrator, Jaydee.

Here are the supplies you will need:

Usually, we select one ink pad, and ink up the entire stamp with that one color. With the new Wildflower Meadow stamp, however, I wanted to highlight the flowers with color, so I used three Stampin’ Write Markers: Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, and Pear Pizzazz (hint–my color coach was very helpful for this color combo)

You can color directly onto your stamp using the thick side of the marker. (tip: I always start with the lightest color first)

After you’ve colored in the entire image, you want to spritz your stamp with water about 5 times or so, covering the entire stamped area (Stampin’ Mist works great too!).  Tip: Don’t be afraid to over-do it. The water color paper is specially designed to absorb the water, giving you a water-color look. The more water you spritz, the better it will turn out!

Here’s a quick comparison:

The image on the left was stamped directly onto the watercolor paper. The one on the right had about 6 sprays with the spritzer before stamping it on the watercolor paper.  Can you see the difference?

The watercolor paper will take a minute to absorb and dry. After that, you can stamp your greeting, and emboss with the coordinating embossing folder. Finish your card with a little bakers twine, pop up the layers with dimensionals, and you’re good to go!

It’s a neat technique that works great with any solid image. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Have a fabulous Day and Happy Stamping!!!
